China has 180 GW of solar, 159 GW of wind, 339 GW total. That’s almost twice the rest of the world combined
China is the world leader in renewable energy, according to a Global Energy Monitor (GEM) report released on July 11. 180 GW of solar, 159 GW of wind, 339 GW total. That’s almost twice the rest of the world combined.
Since over 40% of China solar is smaller installations, the actual total could be much higher.
For comparison, the US is building 40 GW of wind and solar. The GEM report looked at large solar farms that feed into the grid with a capacity of at least 20 megawatts (MW).
global renewable energy market just more evidence of China dominance. It’s happening at a time when the US is worried about Chinese overcapacity and dumping in the solar sector.
