Renewable energy is here to stay, and taking the lead worldwide is solar energy. The biggest update in Solar was the latest collaboration between Engie North America and Meta Platforms Inc., also known as the parent company of Facebook.

The two companies entered into the Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreement (EAPA) in order to converge a supply of solar energy from Engie’s Sypert Branch solar project.

The 260 MW solar project in Milam County, Texas, is said to significantly contribute to Meta’s expanding power requirements. Once the solar farm project is complete, it is expected to meet the tech giant’s goals of having net zero emissions across its global operations.

Located 70 miles from Austin, Texas, the Sypert Branch solar project is just 10 miles away from Meta’s data center in Temple, Texas. Engie will be providing all that is needed for the project’s development, construction, and operational management. The official operation of the project begins in 2025.

Apart from benefiting the environment, the Sypert Branch project will have an excellent impact on the economy with the expectation of creating over 300 jobs. As the years go by, this particular project is expected to generate around the amount of USD 69 million in tax revenue for the community with USD 45 million benefiting two local school districts.
