Octopus Energy has introduced a £2 billion investment in UK renewable energy projects by 2030.
The investment will fund new solar farms and battery storage to increase the UK’s clean energy scope.
These projects are told in advance to generate sufficient electricity to power 80,000 homes and are supposed to be operational between 2025 and 2026.
The company has approved deals for four new solar farms in Bristol, Essex, East Progress of Yorkshire, and Wiltshire.
A 30-MW battery will be built at one of the solar areas.
In addition, Octopus Energy has started work on a 12-MW battery in Cheshire, which will store power and help stabilise the grid by providing that electricity to nearly 10,000 homes daily.
What is the Octopus Energy Power Generation agreement?
Zoisa North-Bond, Chief Executive Officer of Octopus Energy Generation, said: “This £2 billion investment in homegrown renewables will help boost our energy security and surface the way for a more reasonable future.
“Solar and onshore wind are between the low-priced energy sources ready for use.”
